Project's name: National Program for Family Empowerment (Combating female genital mutilation).
General objective :creating a positive environment to support Egyptian family in overcoming heritage and traditions that support the forms and manifestations of domestic violence in its various forms, especially female genital mutilation.
Duration: Two years
Target group: women – youth of both sexes - preachers of both sexes - family houses.
Reasons of the Project's adoption :
1- Spread of the phenomenon of female genital mutilation in the concerned villages and governorates.
2- Spread of various types of violence between family's members in the villages of concern.
3- Spread of different forms of violence in those villages the matter leads to the disintegration of families in the light of the current economic crisis.
The Project work areas:
Qalyubia governorate: (Kafr El-gemal village - Shubra House village - Tersa village - Qalaqshandah village -Alhasaniya(.
Expected results:
1- 15 personnel of the project's team work will have been trained on female genital mutilation from an integrated perspective.
2- 10 Family houses will have been visited in the villages where the project works.
3-There will be 200 beneficiaries of children and youth who will have been sensitized on female genital mutilation from an integrated perspective.
4-100 female health workers , rural and intellectual women and nurses will be the beneficiaries of the interactive meetings on (female circumcision from an integrated perspective(.
5- 75 preachers of both sexes will be the beneficiaries of the round tables to discuss the phenomenon of female genital mutilation from an integrated perspective.
